The new Garmin GPS took me home to Brooklyn through the Lincoln Tunnel and NYC instead of Staten Island. I'm not a fan of driving through the city, ever. There are tourists who don't drive well and yellow cab drivers who don't drive well. It's very stressful driving. The one thing I didn't mind about this trip was getting to pass by the Freedom Tower. ( I refuse to call it by its new name, One World Trade Center) I've watched this building go up slowly over the past several years. It really is beautiful and I can't wait to see it finished.
I took this photo while stopped at a light on the West Side Hwy.
LOVE this, Janine. My oldest son graduated from the USMMA at Great Neck. Over the 4 years he was a midshipmen there, we visited NYC frequently, beginning with 2 days before 9-11. We visited ground zero many times, but he graduated in '05. We've only returned to NYC once since then and will probably not have the opportunity to visit again. I love seeing the progress through the lens of others. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteyou had a nice, clear, sunny day to take pictures in NYC. I love that town!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of an emotionally charged building. I agree with you about driving through the city I would much prefer not to.
ReplyDeleteI didn't understand what this is until I read the comments. It's interesting to see the stages of the building. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I'm ready for it to be finished.
ReplyDeleteWhat a site! It must be overwhelming in person!
